Anyone read Terry Goodkind's Sword of Truth Series???

I have Wizard's First Rule on my nightstand, have not even started it, been there for 2 years, baahaa. (I'm not a big reader, but have really enjoyed the few books I have completed). My Mom has the entire series(9 books so far I believe), she loved them.

I really enjoyed Terry Brooks The Word and Void Trilogy:
Running with the Demon
A Kinght of the Word
Angel Fire East

Was at the bookstore looking into A Song of Fire and Ice series, thiking I should pick it up(maybe try the library first, but the size of them, I would need to borrow them forever)

The Ender series is very big actually:
Ender's Game
Speaker for the Dead
Xenocide
Children of the Mind
Ender's Shadow
Shadow of the Hegemon
Shadow Puppets
First Meetings

I've read them all, some are good, some are rather lack luster compared to other works from Orson Scott Card. I love the Ender series but I believe that his Alvin Maker and Homecoming books are better. But after reading his complete short fiction works I think some of his very best writing is in those.

Metal, I've read the Word and Void Trilogy via your post a couple of years ago...it was really good.

CW, I've read the Homecoming series and am debating to start reading Alvin Maker at some point.

I just started reading Isaac Asimov's Nightfall
just to read something, and so far I'm a bit disappointed.
He seems to drag description out unecessarily,
and maybe Sci-Fi ain't my thing.

Anyone read it?

lb yes I have read them all.

On a scale of 1-10 I give Childern and Speaker and Xenocide a 6.5. I bought my first Alvin book a few months back but had to put it down when I discovered it was the 4 or 5th in the series. Have not bought the first one yet but I do plan on it when time permits. I did read everything in the homecomig series and would give them in general a 7, if I had to rate them.

Ok I am 10 chapters into Terry Goodkind's first book in the Sword of Truth series, Wizard's First Rule, and it is damn good!!
Tough to put it down! I made the mistake of looking at the back of book 2, and the first line gave away who the hero of book was related too...DOH!
I will let you know how it is when I get it finished.

""literature" (Frost, Twain, etc). But my collection is by NO means complete. I'd like some recommendations for good reading, especially good Sci-fi but anything will do. I used to read strictly factual history books but I figured out that reading "period" literature was not only more interesting but also a better view into the past."

To this I would highly recommend "Of Human Bondage" by Somerset Maugham. He is one of the greatest writers I've ever read. It's a very long book but is unforgettable. CF, you owe it to yourself to read this book.
