WAR OF THE WORLDS review thread......
I thought it was damn good, very brutal. Totally immerses you in the film with the tension, and there's really no wasted scene. I really don't mind Dakota Fanning, I think she played her role well. The ending just sort of came, and it wasn't as satisfying as I would have wanted. But looking back this makes some sense. . .the film isn't really about plot when I think about it, but more about survival and just getting through what was happening, so I guess I'm more forgivable towards plot specifics that are questionable. Just the actual ending with the characters seemed . . . meh. Still, all in all it was very good, and I hope it does well at the box office.

I lvoed the book, I loved the original movie, and I loved the enw film. The scene where the aliens first arise scared the hell out of me. It was just absolutely astonishing. Great FX, great acting, a few minor plot holes, but I can overlook them because it was just a "wow" kind of movie. I was literally on the edge of my seat. I was just absolutely astonished and shocked. The whole movie just felt so human as well, and I loved how it portrayed people. Crise, love or hate him was actually amazing, as was Fanning. I was also not expecting Robbins.

If she liked Signs I think she might like this one Lopo... I absolutely loved WotW and I normally don't like movies that have to do with aliens and stuff. Dakota Fanning's cuteness will probably keep her watching
The first time I saw it I was on the edge of my seat too hehe. The effects were pretty damn good. I don't want to say much else cuz I don't want to ruin the movie for anyone :P

I saw it last night. Effect were awesome other than that I give it a B+. So as not to post a spoiler let's just say the ending was very weak. I've read the book, listened to Orson Welles version and have seen the original. This was to me the most enjoyable (hey, I like things blowing up and whaked out killing machines) but I feel it could have been better. An extended DVD release would be just the answer!
