very sad Star trek was my favorite show growing up. I got the chance to meet most of the crew in LA about 9 years ago at one of the convesions.

Saw him in person at a Trek "Convention" in Grand Rapids, Michigan a few years ago.

Someone in the audience asked him what the most exciting time in his life was, expecting a Star Trek referenced answer. Instead, he proceeded to spend the next twenty minutes talking about his participation in the invasion at Normanday on D-day and landing on Juno Beach (Canadian) and getting wounded. Sorry to say that story bored most of the attending audience to death, but that was the highlight of the whole convention for the wife and me.

We lost another WWII vet, and a good actor to boot.
