Well, this news of the Penryn really confuse the matter. Intel is kinda saying some current mobos will support it and maybe some won't. If I knew which mobos did, I could buy an E6300 now relatively cheaply, o/c the heck out of it, and then go Penryn early next year, just in time for DirectX10 games to start showing up. On top of that I've read of some great price drops Intel is planning in the next month. This would make for a great upgrade path, especially not having to change the mobo. Which I think means I could get an OEM copy of XP with my new system, upgrade to Vista at some point ...with an OEM copy and keep it because the mobo stays the same.
Nah, can't happen, it just makes to much sense.....
