So I was just playing C&C for like 20 minutes and it didn't crash. Nor did my front mounted 90mm fan kick in, which is usually a sign the comp is going to crash. Thoughts?

Heat? I don't know, is the front connected to the motherboard?

I don't think so, but it randomly increases speed. It's just plugged into my PSU. I'm guessing, though, that it's not my PSU because it's a 500watt Antec; is that a safe assumption?

Does it only crash under heavy load, such as gaming? I'd check to see where the fan is connected and what type it is as well. I'm doubtful it automatically adjusts itself if its connected directly to the PSU.

I would guess that if it is directly connected to the PSU and is increasingand decreasing your PSU might be going bad. That would cause your system to crash under heavy load, it runs out of power. Just a guess though.

Well, I'm thinking I should disconnect the fan and see what happens. Though, one of my friends (who's a comp eng major) siad he's pretty sure it's my mobo, but I might be able to get a new one under warranty

There's a chance, it could be many possible issues to tell the truth.

im with MA on this one. If you were able to run it for a while without crashing and that fan never ran its prob the PSU. Then again I dont know . Arent fans normally on the 5v rail?

I'm not sure where it was specifically plugged into, as in which rail. I don't know how to tell the difference. My PSU has plugs on it so I can stick however many connectors in as I need so I just did it pretty much arbetrarily; I didn't know it made a difference. But I've taken the fan out to see what happens.

Well, it doesn't crash now that that fan is no longer connected, but I left C&C running while I went to watch TV with my gf and came back to errors. It was the thing I was describing earlier where the screen went crazy to like 8 colors and 640x400 resolution. The error report from MS said I need to install the latest drivers or underclock the card, both of which I've tried and don't work.
Edit: After talking to my buddy, I'm gonna go with getting a new card and see what happens. I'll report back later when it gets here, though I'm not sure by when I'll be able to afford it
