10 Years
You know, my MOM has been gone 10 years today.
You folks that have your parents still.
Love them AND TELL THEM SO.
I'll never forget the last thing I said to Mom.
She was sitting at a computer I bought her from work, cuz she loves to play solitaire, and it was easier on her than using cards all the time.
She had called me and said I goofed up the computer, so I ran up to the house quick.
Fixed it, visited for a bit.
When I left she said thank you as I was going out the back door, I looked over and said "It's a good thing I love you"
I'll never forget that statement.
I said it jokingly but she knew I meant it.
4 hours later, I was doing CPR on her after Dad called crying and said son get here now, something is wrong with your Mom. (Congestive Heart Failure)
At the time I lived 3/4 of a mile away.
It took me about 40 seconds to get there.
People, ya never, never, quit missing them.
You may not realize it now.
But, there's a whole lot of {OF}'s that will verify what I'm telling ya.
Just yackin' I guess.
Been thinking of her all day.
I put a memorial to her in the Akron paper today.
I guess I did it for me.
Quit jawin' baddawg.........................
Just PLEASE you guy's, tell them, cuz like me, I bet you'll never forget the last thing you say too.

Yupper, Dad's been gone for 8 years now and Mom for nearly 41 years. She died one week after my 14th birthday, so I've had a hard time celebrating my birthdays ever since.

Thanks for sharing that BD.
.. and certainly this applies to anyone we love
that are in our lives. Never forget to tell them
just what they mean to you and how special they are.

My mother is still alive and I luv her dearly.
But losing my dad 7 years ago was the worse thing I ever experienced to date.

Hey, I don't know if this is a coincidence but...
That same evening you posted this my mom called and we talked for like an hour. They bought a new (smaller) house a few months ago and are selling the family farm, anyway they spent all of last weekend painting/etc in the new place and of course she's too cheap to get a phone installed before they disconnect the old one so I could not talk to her last weekend.
Well, she has severe arthritis and strained herself too much and ended up in an ambulance to the hospital...she's back in the old house now but sure scared the crap out of me.
Anyway, your post was a good reminder and a weird coincidence....

Sorry to hear that Dutch.
Sure am glad that it's that >>>>>>> minor<<<<<<<<
Don't know if that's a good choice of word or not.
At the time I know you didn't think it was minor, but maybe afterward.
But , she's HOME!!
Now, go kick her butt, and tell her you will do it!!
Been there buddy, I know, I know, to sometimes a pain in the butt to take care of parents.
But hey, they did it for you and I.
And, we need NO MORE coincidence's here.
So, knock it off!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
God speed to her FD!!

Wish I could go kick her butt.
She's in Canada, near Montreal and I'm in Oklahoma.
And yes, it was relatively minor. But what bugs me is this is the first time she's ended up in the hospital (and then overnight on top of it) for it on an emergency basis.
