The Wolfenstein announcement looks like that game franchise will be moving into a "world" environment instead of map levels. I'll bet it becomes pay to play worlds too. But they at least had good teamwork gaming build into the last release.

Maybe that is why I love CS:S so much eh Smiley. Maybe not the same type of fast action as Quake or Unreal DM, but it certainly gets my blood boiling

yeah, I think CS is boring as hell, and I don't play it. I just make sure other people follow the rules when they play it

Dbabe, CS is still fairly active compared to other games (except for maybe Battlefield). In 1999 there were leagues and ladders for all sorts of games and they were all active. If you tink about UT2003 and UT2004, they sold plenty of copies, but the competitive play died out primarily because of the use of bots.

I'm not saying that competitve play is totally dead, just it isn't as large as it was.

Never cared for CS because of the type of people who played it.

Metal is the exception.

But I think that the JPG (Jerk Per Game) index for CS was always pretty high.

Yes, you had to find a server you could call home to really enjoy the game.

Become a regular at a server, or join the clan of your favourite server to be able to remove the "jerks" and not be banned for having a good game

If not for this I would not have been able to keep playing for so many years.

Harb's server was so much damn fun, every night there were 7, OF, POK, TN playing. Then BF2 ruined it all!! Yep, gotta go get another Head Strong Pale Ale and sulk in a corner

Many of us that came over with the OFC added were part of the original clan that started over at the Epic UNreal forums. ( Where some of us were banned for inappropriate behavior.)

Imagine us Old Farts inapproproite

. Epic ran a tight ship then. Not as tight as Mark Reins tighty whities ( a comment that got me banned )

ah glory days.

I will buy Quake 4 and just hope the bots and single player have some value till I get back to dsl.
