There's lots of stateland that one could go hunting all around the state. You've kinda have to know the lay of the land to hunt for something specifically. Let's see...Pheasants; there's lots of them but you'd probably need permission to hunt on someone's private(farm) land as I've not seen too many of these on state land. Quail; what the heck are these? We've got Partridge (or Pats)(or flying heart attacks)(or G-dammits). These are pretty plentiful around this area and, if I'm not mistaken, considered small game (I think pheasants are too). Turkeys are the most plentiful of the three (I usually come across two or three flocks of 20 to 30 a day) but they are licensed by lottery. You pay your money and take a chance at getting a license. You also have to know which hunting period you want and where you're gonna hunt. This is off the top of my head but I can get you specific info if you want. I do know that you need to bring your own lube if you pay for a non-resident license as the state will stick it to you hard. A friend came up from Ohio several years ago to go deer hunting and paid something like $350 for a non-resident which for resident went for $12 at the time.
I'm sure there's a website that might have the info you're looking for. I'll try to find it and will post it later.
