Smiley...

I was thinking of putting a k&n cold air intake on my truck and a flowmaster catback system and a performance chip
the CAI is about $265
the catbcak is $365
and the performance chip is $400

you think i'd get a noticable difference in the truck for a grand???

The chip I was going to get is programable so that I can change the shift points on the tranny, take away the speed limiter and will adjust the settings if I increase my tire size... and it supposedly will increase my fuel economy... and theres a crap load more.. but I didnt really ask much more about them...

you will see an average 7.8301634 percent increase in HP, or is that 4.3610387 ?
I'm not sure, but it sounds cool !

I love my Flowmaster cat-back system, until the muffler got a loose baffle inside this summer, now it has a rattle at certain rpms. Time to get another one

I was going to get a K&N CAI eventually, but when AEM came out with their oil free filter I want one of their kits instead. http://www.performance-air-filters.c...&b randid=486

What engine again? I know that none of the programmers can change the speedo settings for the v10 SD, I'm not sure about the other engines but I can find out for you. The speedo can be adjusted by a service department up to a 35" tire accurately.

I suggest searching through this forum, lots of Ford tuning experts here -
http://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=46

From reading the forums there over the years it looks like Superchips or Diablo are much better than the Hypertech programmers, at least for Fords.

I think you would see a performance difference, but it won't be a huge change. What gearing you running?

I have the 5.4 L triton

I see its a thumbs up for the cat back and the CAI

nothing was changed on the truck from the factory so whatever gearing it came with is still there...

did you go out the back with the pipes or the sides??
i'm leaning towards the sides because the last pickup I had and went out the back... I got fumes when I opened the rear slider...

Single tailpipe outlet by the rear quarter, just like the stock tailpipe location. I assume that is what you mean by the "side"?

There should be a metal tag on the rear diff with the axle ratio. Personally I think you will get a better seat of the pants performance feel with lower gearing than the tuner, especially when towing.

the catback system I looked at was not a single but a dual outlet but instead of having 2 out the back its two out the opposite sides. one where the existing one is and one on the other side.

i'll look tomorrow on the ratio.. right now its DARK and COLD outside and i'm on the couch in my PJ's
