DMW's new ride.... not to rain on blong though. :)

I just traded in the old softail for the new 2007 Softail. I am really glad I got this. The new harley softail line had some pretty necessary changes. They now have a 96 cubic inch motor with 6 speed tranny. Fuel injection and electronic O2 sensor for changing pipes or the breather. There is also a download to increase performance by XX percent (can't remember off the top of my head what it is though).

I rode it home from Omaha today (in 100+ heat) and it was a beautiful ride. The new 200mm tire looks Baaaad. I got the wheel option with it so the pic I am posting is not exactly like it. I have the same color though so basically besides the wheels it's the same bike.

I will post some pics of it tomorrow... didn't have time to take any today.

Welp, I have always been a Harley guy... The Victory's were very very appealing but I really got concerned about resale value... the Harley's just retain thier value so well that in the end... this bike is what I wanted. So I stuck with it. These new 2007's just don't sit on the show floor very long... I got lucky with this one.

Sweet bike DMW, I miss my Wide Glide. I didn't realize HD was finally making the WG with a 200 rear. What is the wheel option?

I'm debating on getting a bike again one both knees are new, I intend to try riding my father-in-law's Ultra Glide next summer to see if the floorboards allow me to be comfortable.

Ya, that might be a good ride for you Smiley... You probably need to look at the Touring line. I have always luv'd the Road King Custom myself but never wanted to dish the $$ out for that bike.

the wheel option for my bike was a solid polished aluminum in the rear like the Fat Boys had and a nicer spoker up front. It really add's to the bike's appeal. I like the Standard Softail cuz it's a great bike to customize for yourself.

The 200mm tire really changes the appearance of the whole bike. I have a friend who has a 98' Softail Springer and he converted his rear to the 200mm tire. He spent around 2500 to do this though as you have to change the swingarm.

I looked at the wide glide also.... I like the looks of it this year... but I stuck with old Standard standbye. I have always luv'd the wide glide front end.

I was at my mothers all day today for Birthday celebrations for my wife and daughter... so I didn't get a chance to take any pic's of it. Will try tomorrow.

I'm jealous as hell now! LOL. Couldn't be happier for you though! What an awesome feeling a new bike is. I was hoping you'd go for that Victory just so I could get your ownership opinion. Oh well. I was at the local HD dealer the other day for the premier of the '07s and well lets just say it was hard not to take something home. I too love the Road King but it'll be a long time until I can afford one. I also love the Wide Glide though. Of course right now I'm partial to the Street Bob. O.K. so I need all 3!

Congrats!!!!
