Well, if your sure the floor is done moving you could find the high point and build up the edges with 1/4" sub floor till it was close to level, but that woul be a pain. or you could have a company come in and jack up your house put a good level foundation under it and when you set the house back down it should level up. then all you corners and grout would be cracked again, but that costs $$$. Feel you pain, gonna take a lot of work anyway you do it .

When was your house built?

My house was built in 1920. You just dont find houses built this sturdy anymore. 4x6's. Schweet!! Unfortunately, like G-man, we have no foundation that I can know of. This house is set on some kind of pilings (or so I'm told cuz I would NEVAH get under there with the spiders) Apparently when one part of the house "settled" someone goes under there with a special floor jack and jacks the house back up. I've got to have that done at the back porch right now

I want to pull the carpet up and see what is underneath sooooo badly but, I'm afraid of what I will find

Good Luck to ya though and let us know your progress. I like hearing about this kinds of stuff. Especially if power tools are involved!

Mega

We pulled the carpeting up in our old farmhouse, because we have lots of pets indoors, and carpeting is a mess. Underneath it was all the old original linoleum "rugs" that were popular in the 20's. Most all of it was in good shape so we decided to keep it.
Interesting floral designs. Some rooms the "rugs" don't go all the way to the walls. It's like a big rectangular "rug" in the middle of the floor with the edges having a nice border. The outside exposed wood pine flooring was then varnished to finish it off. Very typical for the period, and in its day was considered very "fancy" especially in a country farm house.

You might have a treasure under your carpeting also. !!

Sorry Vmax, didn't mean to hijack your topic.

Pffft! Vmax! We are talking remodeling and power tools!

I wonder if we have any "rugs" under the carpet too. I'm hoping to find some good tongue and groove flooring. If I found that under the carpet - I would be in 7th heaven. I'd have a sander in here tomorrow! Course, I have to finish taming the bushes first

Do you have any more pics to post up? I'd really be interested

Crikey, here I am in this '96 model and feeling fine. My parents were antique dealers, so I grew up surrouned by tons of old junk. I'm happier with the new stuff. :P

Take care,

Rick
