I do not use the std config and after having that trouble with all the BF series here's what I do.

I go into the ingame setup and clear every bind under all the tabs,unless it is one i use as is. thewn i rebind as needed with no conflicts.

Also, some keys are system (game) bound and don't show in the ingame binding menu. ALT for example.

1. you need to open up Controls.con in notepad. it's located in ( \My Documents\Battlefield 2 Demo\Profiles\0001 note 0001 is example)

2. search and remove all references to LeftAlt or RightAlt (whichever one you use). then you can bind it in game.

the line in Controls con will look something like this...

ControlMap.addKeyToTriggerMapping c_GIRightAlt IDFKeyboard IDKey_RightAlt 0 0

just delete the line.

thanks MT, i was wondering after i gave up on it if i could clear key assignments. just hit escape or something?

I will look for a dedicated server setup. Been gone all weekend so have only kept up with the boards and not the server.

There seems to be no lack of demo servers out there, but if the game when it ships continues to get a lot of clan attention, I will set it up.

bah the game should come with no keys bound to anything. makes everyone elses life a lot nicer thats for sure

there's a patch coming to fix the key binding
and server browser (amongst other things).

Dutch: You're right .. there's no lack of servers,
but it seems everyone that is interested is hitting
random servers. Getting it on the {OF} server would
give a good spot to meet.

I'd like to encourage the interest of people here.

Man, I sure see a lot of bitching about key reconfiguring. I guess I am just simple. well u know the answer to that one. It seems the standard keys are the same for this game as all the other shooters I used to play.
forward, backward, left ,right, fire....

well fire is different button than i use forward is a different button than i use. i believe that was about it
