DMW: Razer Boomslang new edition

I remember you liking the original boomslang gaming mouse. I have one myself, but donated it to my son when I upgraded to the DiamondBack. This one is making me think about it again though!

Razer Boomslang™ Collector's Edition 2007

I hated the boomslang. I went through 3 in less then 2 years. As for a made for a Hardcore gamer.. Thats is BS. I was always careful with my mice too. Dam buttons would always get messed up. I have a copperhead now and it has already been replaced same problem. This will be the last Razor piece of trash I ever buy.

I loved the Boomslang. After you got used to the weight of them they were great to use and really accurate. Just had to keep the ball clean. I went thru two of them in the UT99 days. I still have one... in the can brand new that Grog bought and didn't like. I bought it from him for 50 dollars I think it was. I have been waiting for the day to break it out.

I used to do a move on Lava Giant where I would come out of the red fort with the flag... armed with jump boots I would jump up over the wall and spin the mouse ball while loading up the rocket launcher... so I could shoot whoever was trying to follow me. OG once accused me of using a script to do that move... I told him it was all in the mouse... nuttin but mouse.

Luv the Razer and I am glad they are back in business.

U went thru 3 of them but hated it? Pricey hate there mac. at 99 dollars a shot.

When the boomslang was introduced it really was the most accurate mouse available. If I remember it was like 2200 dpi.

It was a hardcore mouse in my opinion. It was able to take a pretty good beating. I also took care of my mice but was also known to slam it a few times when I was pissed.

Hate Razer mouses, they're not close to the comfort of a Logitech.

DPI != accuracy. Just throwing that out there, it means the mouse is a hell of a lot more sensitive (and useless), but its not accuracy.

I only bought it once. Warranty on the first two within the the time and the last one I went nuts and wrote a hand letter claiming they had faulty crap. I took it as far as making good or I will goto the BBB. I really would have settled for my money back. They sent me a free replacement. I gave it up after the third failure then the buttons stuck on the sides. Went back to the Good'ol trusty 12 dollar mouse for 5+ years after that. Then last year I said I would give them one more shot. Within 2 months the mouse button failed. I sent them a letter and they cleared it up with a replacement. So far this one seems a little different almost like the first one already had problems.

Time will tell. When this one goes I will go back to my 12 dollar Microsoft mouseball.

I admit I complain alot but, I demand quality. When I don't get it, it pisses me off, especially when I am told I have to give that same quality when I work.. Funny thing is seems like I'm not aloud to make mistakes or errors but everyone else is.

Thats a whole other issue though.

Anyhow... In comparison... I know how much money I spent.. I don't see the quality, I've even gone out of my way to slam and crack up the old 12 dollar mouse and it still goes. I use the "gamers selected mouse" and use it for games and it doesnt stack up. I like the technology! Just wish they would use the same guts as the cheaper mice.

That's what happened to my first one. One of the buttons stuck or stopped working. I put some miles on that mouse though. In the UT99 days I played alot... probably as much as Grog did. My first one was replaced by them also. I never had any problems with the second one though and after I kind of fell out of gaming I passed it to my son who liked it. Eventually it gave out. The third one I have I am just leaving in the can. It's one of the originals. I will get it out one day. Even Razer's new mice don't do 2200 dpi from the looks of it. 1800 now but no ball.

Razer makes the Lachesis that does 4000 dpi. Logitech has the G9 that does 3200dpi.

My G5 does 2000dpi and I've never used it over 800dpi. Why? Because a mouse that goes across my entire screen in under an inch and a half of movement is completely useless.
