2008 Challenger SRT8

LC: 2008 Dodge Challenger (and 2009 Challenger)

Heavier than the the Charger SRT8, which it is based upon, by 90 lbs. It is about 1k lbs more than the original Challenger - heh. For 425 hp it sure doesn't perform 0-60 or 1/4 mile . . . For $40k a base 'Vette is just slightly more. Too bad, because I really like the looks of the new Challenger.

Clydefrog, do you know if the performance of the new Camaro is better than the new Challenger.

Nice wheels.

Should make it from one gas station to the next one in no time at all

I was really digging the new Challenger until I saw the 5 spd auto. Ummm ... hello? Otherwise if I squint and ignore the console area it's really nice!

I haven't heard anything official on the Camaro yet. They've really gone dark on the numbers. All I know is it's "on" but so far I haven't driven one for myself. Lately I've been completely wrapped up in things for the new CAFE numbers - lots of "alternative" powertrains. They took the camo off the Camaros so as soon as the ground isn't covered with frozen crapola I'll venture off the grounds with one. Good heavens spring can't come fast enough, I'm already sick of this stuff.

They are to have a 6-speed manual available for the Challenger too. And umm, the auto has paddle shift, heh

As far as a new vehicle, the boss says a new Smart twofour car, but I'm wanting a new Wrangler if they ever put a larger engine in it. But I still look at new Vettes then they advertise low $40k . . .

In reality, I see nothing new for us this coming year, except lifestyle changes with my son and two grandkids moving in. I already had to put Nick and Noggin on the DTV channel lineup.

He Smiley I was at the Dealer getting a Squeak fixed and my salesman asked if I wanted to drive a vette It turned out that he was delivering a Z06 vette to another dealer training for a different color. I got to Drive a Red one and a Black one Very sweet to drive and my god they have nice getup and go when you hit the gas Unfortunately Other than the $81K price tag I would not buy one as they are a bit small for me. I felt a little leg cramped in it. Which would suck on long drives. But it was fun for the short spin across town. Nice way to kill time waiting for you car to get fixed
