How to get out of a snow drift

In a mini van. OMG the roads sucked so bad on the way home from work. I was doing ok 35mph slowing to 30 when I see a decent sized drift. Well there is 1 corner I know is rrreeeaaallllyyyyy bad so when its bad out I try to make it a straight line instead of curving. The snow was over front bumper of my mini van about 3/4 of the way across the road. I hit it and went about 50 feet before the van went no more. Dang and I can see the end of the drift 15 feet away. So anywho I knew I couldnt back up to get back out so I spent the next 15 minutes going in reverse drive reverse drive twisting the steering wheel revers drive. Till I was finally able to get that last 15 feet. I actually got out a couple times and knocked the snow down to below my bumper to make it a little easier. If I had a 4 wheel drive truck I prob would have made it no problem but I have a feeling that if I was still driving my Taurus I sold to my sister I would still be stuck in that drift lol. So either way that has been the most exciting thing to happen to me in the last 16 12 hour work days.

*oh and smiley thanks for the hub. I havent had time to do anything with it but thanks .

Glad you got out unscathed.
So far our first "winter" down south has been interesting.
65 for us yesterday. Going to Phoenix this week for meetings. Weather forecast is high of 79 tomorrow.

Stories like that make me so happy that I work from home and don't have to worry about driving into work.

lol but I was driving home from work after finishing my 16th 12 hour work day in a row. Course when I was on my way to work at 6:30pm the roads were dry. I was more worried about my sister making it home safely that me. I know I can make it home. She made it home but prob because everyone else made a path for her lol.

Hey Dutch

"65 for us yesterday. Going to Phoenix this week for meetings. Weather forecast is high of 79 tomorrow."

Torment us anymore and you could get a house full of unannounced visitors. I've had enough of snow.

LOL Ach.

Well, it was a great week out there. Took a desert tour and took a bunch of pics. If any of them turned out o.k. I might post some.

Of course, I come home and the next day I come down with strep throat....Pay Back time!
