Google: Earth

it's available right now, not sure how long it will be available. ive just been playing with it, very cool where there are high-res textures available, not so when not available. my golf course is available, it looks like those flyovers they do for televised golf tournaments, very cool. i can see golfers, and i think i see myself

http://desktop.google.com/download/earth/index.html

if not available, i'll put it up on waste too, in the Waste Downloads folder....

Yeah, I've been playing with it for a week. I've shown several family members it and they are really amazed. I wish the images had dates on them though, several are very old.

In my town they are building several developments and the images here are missing around 300 houses that have come up in the last 6 months or so.

Been playing around with it too. Images are at least 6 years old cuz in my neighborhood our house is not built yet, but the street is in without any houses yet(our house was built in 1999).

Wonder if you get better resolution if you pay the $20.-? (doesn't sound like it but maybe somebody has tried it?).

Why buy plus?

In addition to the basic features, Google Earth Plus includes:

* GPS integration – read tracks and waypoints from your GPS.
* Higher resolution printing (greater than screen resolution).
* Customer support via email (not just web).
* Annotation – adds draw/sketch tools for richer annotations (can be shared as KML).
* Data importer – read address points from .csv files.

says higher res for printing.....not sure how it actually affects on screen display.

Haven't used the Google Earth, yet, but regular google maps have satellite. I see my car parked behind the garage, but the condos by my work are just dirt, so the pics around my city are a few years old. I also looked up my house near Ft Hood, and if you look on post, there are no cars, so I assume they were taken when the war started and most of the soldiers were deployed. Inc's barracks have zero cars in the lot, and their motorpool is deserted. Eerie!
