I've known for as long as I could remember that my Grandpa wasn't my Dad's biological father. I also knew that I had more family on the biological's side.

I was just goofing around on the internet the other day and I actually FOUND that side of my Dad's family.

Since Thurs, I've been emailing back and forth with my Dad's cousin, my second cousin, I guess. I've sent her videos and pictures of people she didn't think she'd ever know

I have 2 uncles I didn't know about!

And I've found out some other stuff that just really blows my mind, there have been a lot of lies told over the years on my dad's side of the family. Turns out my Dad knew about the lies, which was why we didn't have a whole lot to do with his family over the years.

Its been a really strange weekend so far.

Digging around in your family tree can yield fruits and nuts from time to time Most of the time you find good surprises however

It is always interesting to look into you family history. Some is good and some can be bad. I found out I am related to Eisenhower and Howard Hughes. Like cousins 8 times remove on my great grand mothers side. Hmm wonder where my inheritance is

Funny how families are all disfunctional somewhere along the line and future generations are separated because of some incident(s) between members. My own brother has estranged himself from the rest of the family, and none of us really know why.

I've got family trees for both of my parents done in Family Tree Maker 1995. I should see if there is a new version and import the trees from my floppies into the new version, then update them I know on my father's side my grandmother perpetuated that she came from a rich family in Germany. A couple of my cousins found the family home using a drawing of it my grand mother kept. Turns out is was her sister's husband's family home, they had money, not my grandmother's family. heh, they paid for her to come to the US hoping she'd find someone to marry her during her trip

We've always been told that my dad's father walked out on them. Turned out that that wasn't the case at all. Its sad really. I'm hoping that at least one of my dad's half-brothers will talk to me, but so far I haven't heard from either of them.

In the meantime I will keep in touch with my new-found cousin. I uploaded some video's that Darrell made of my family when my dad died and sent her the links, so she could get an idea of what he was like. She loved them

I have names now, so I suppose I could start working up a family tree, but I dunno, seems like too much work.
