2nd monitor not working....?

Hi. Try this on for size.

2nd monitor shows it gets power. When computer boots up, the green power light goes out on the second monitor and the monitor stays black. Turn off the PC, and then the green light for power comes back on, on the second monitor. Primary is fine. Primary is DVI, secondary is the analog, of course.

In Settings, 2nd monitors still is there, extend my sesktop is still checked...

I dunno, it worked fine last night.... The wierd thing is the power light going out when the computer is on, then it comes back on when the computer is off.

Also, the UPS the monitor was plugged into took a dump; the battery backup side of it no longer works. But now everything fromt hat dead unit is plugged inot a strip temporarily. The wonky monitor, I plugged in the strip at first, then tried directly into a wall socket. That's where it is for now, and still not working.

Ideas? What am I missing? I'm so used to two now; this is such a PITA .

Thanks in advance for suggestions.

V Plug the second monitor in as the primary to see if it is still working. If it is you could reinstall the drivers on your vid card and see if that helps. After that the dual monitor guys will have to jump in.

It sounds to me like the monitor is toast.

I'm no electrical engineer so my technical nomenclature will have to consist of it appears that the power thingy in the monitor is supplying enough juice to run the power LED when there is no demand on the display, but when the juice is also directed to the display the power dohicky doesn't have enuf oomph to power either the LED or the display.

At the same time it seems that when Windows calls for the system to bring out its dead, it is claiming "I'm not dead yet."
