Ads By Google... *other*

Hello,

I was wondering how to set-up a little something like www.chemicalhardware.com has. I would like to make money off of ads that could possibly place on my soon-to-be website. If anyone has any info other than the useless information that I tend to be getting from googles site, It would be greatly appreciated.

You have to sign up for Google AdSense. You must have your site already up before you sign up, your site will then be evaluated by Google to see if its working right, etc.

Once you've been signed up you will be able to login and then from there you can decide the type of ads you want. Those include the text ads at top, a search function, or referels like those for Firefox or a Google package.

Once you've selected what you want you'll then be given a piece of code that you place into your sites code. You can not modify that code in anyway. There are also a number of other rules that you will want to read carefully.

Just so you know, you dont exactly make a ton of money off of these things. To give you an example, lets say you get 600 page impressions (times a page is visited on your site) and you get 10 clicks on the actual ads (2%, pretty common average) for that day you'll make a little under $5. Also, you make MUCH more money from clicks, you can get a ton of impressions but they're worth nothing really without some clisk thrown in, so that's where placement comes into play.

That's a pretty much a break down of the whole process. You will have to fill out tax information, and if you make over $600 a year from it you will have to pay taxes.

Thanks a lot for the information. I will be getting my site up soon and I will give it a try. What kind of tax forms am I going to have to fill out? Is it the same papers I filled out when I started a new job?

The tax form thing: Its just an online form that you put information like your name, address, SS number, etc. Its real simple and once you've got it filled out then you never have to worry about it again.

Also, I forgot to say how you're paid. There's basically two methods. One is a paypal type method where the money is sent directly to your checking account. The other is that you are mailed a check.

On both methods though you must have reached at least $100 within the month for them to send the check, if you dont then the money is held over till the next month. Checks are sent out on the 25th I believe and they say expect around 2 weeks for it to arrive.

It says you have to be 18 to be able to receive a check. If I put my SS # in, Won't they be able to tell I'm not 18. Because I know your not 18. How did you bypass that?
