replacing brake pads/rotors labor????

Ok when I got my new tires they told me I needed to replace brake pads and rotors (I knew pads already before this and there is nothing wrong with my rotors). well they said for $340 they can replace the front pads and rotors. I said no ill do it myself. I have replaced pads/rotars pads/drums before on my old car no big deal. Well finally went today to pick up brake pads. $25 like they always have been on my old car. I dont need rotors but I asked how much and they are $30/ea. same as my old car. hmm $60 for rotors and $25 for pads equals $85. where is the other $250 for labor?? figure most places charge $50 for labor around here so 5 hours to replace rotors and brake pads?????? OMG they must be the slowest place in town or something cause last time I did my car brakes and rotors it took me maybe an hour to do both sides. Talk about a rip off man I feel sorry for those who cant do it themselves or knows someone who can do it alot cheaper.

they always wack you on Brakes and Rotors. You have to be careful they tried that with me during a State Inspection and I asked, were the parts made of Solid gold? When they continued to tell me "THEY" had to do it I said let me see what your going to put on... I nearly laughed my *** off when they got the box... They opened it and showed me like I was an idiot and said this is how they send them. Lets put it this way. They came off someone Else's truck. they wanted 600 for my truck. I told them FAIL me I will go somewhere else. In the end with pads and brakes I think it cost me just under 200 bucks and only 3 hours of my own time.

I see that. took me an hour to replace my pads (brake pads not monthly pms pads lol). But I spend 20 minutes trying to find all my tools (someone used my wrenches and didnt put the back). Then I had to use a hammer to help "break" the bolts free. after that it was a piece of cake . The Rotors look Like they will be a pain in the rear end to replace when I have to replace them (basically when I go to replace the pads again).

yeah rotors are somewhat more time consuming than pads, pads you just like undo a bolt for the caliper, swing it up, take out old pad put in new one...at least that's how it is on my integra. the rotors were a little different. had to take the caliper off and use a punch and hammer to get the phillips head screws loose and i think there was something else...i cant remember if the axle had to come out too or not, that would take a good 30 some more minutes just to get that freakin nut off.

and yeah, we take our cars to the same guy everytime now. im surprised he even gives us prices for stuff because we never let them do it. and those shops give you those rates because they can. my ex-gf pays them all sorts of cash to do stuff because she hasnt any clue how. $26 to replace a light bulb, lol. forgot how much they charged for her axle, like some obscene amount, $500 or something.

lol, my friend had a cracked radiator, they wanted $600 for that. the price breakdown was something like $200 for the radiator, $100 for pipes and the rest labor. yeah, it takes $300 worth of labor to drain a radiator, take off like 3 bolts and the take off the coolant pipes...my ***. i'll never take my **** to a shop.

well I am wrong about my rotors. I thought the big nut on the side was holding the roter lol no thats the axle lol. No mine requires 2 more bolts than to take off my calipers hehe. 2 pain in the rear end bolts since they are so friggen tight (at least the 2 holding the calipers on were).
