Local RC planes show

The local chapter of RC planes had a showing this weekend open to the public.

Had to go see and shoot some pics

These have all been downsized, if anybody wants the full sizes one I'd be more then happy to UL them to the OF FTP server.

Very nice Ductch. Thanks for posting those.
They had a little of everyting there. And the lucky bastards have a paved runway.

Was this the local club's site, or a local small airport?

At least it was on top of the grass. I've had a few crashes that alot of the plane ended up under the grass, or left a nice sized crater.

Local club site. There's a huge sod farm out here called Seven Cities Sod and either the owner is into RC or they donated them a strip of land for exclusive RC plane use. Not sure who paved it.

The lucky bastards actually have two practice spots, both with a paved runway

http://www.davenportrc.org/index.cfm...ce_id/17.htm#1

website isn't really up to date with the exception of their newsletters. Most recent pictures are from 2004 (old farts, go figure )

On both sides of the paved runway they have very short mowed lawn, I saw several planes that opted to take off from there (and most opted to land there: ther was a pretty stiff wind that day and I witnessed several mini crashes)

The last pic of the three guys carrying the plane was after a crash. They were doing some awesome airstunts, pretty high up to start but then had to try it a little closer to the ground. Motor lost a lot of power for just a few seconds on a downward spin and POOF. It landed upside down like you see them carry it. Notice the broken prop.

Glad you liked it. Wonder if there are too many regulations in Europe radio control wise or something that discourages people from doing this???

Some of the world's best RC pilots are European, especially in Germany. Just prolly alot fewer flying fields and clubs.
