When we lived in Germany (95-97) we had a VW station wagon and had no problems with it. If you can, go to Germany to buy it. Not only will it end up cheaper (well, maybe), it'll be built-well and should run fine

Not to knock VW in general, i like them.. just a couple of long term things to think about.. 1) premium gas. thats like a leg there buddy on the readerboard at quickymart. 2) your electrical system must be ratnest waiting to happen. 140amp alt? and for most of you guys their made in mexico.. and for some time now. not knocking that either the wife is of spanish decent. on the upside it does have some favorable amenities like battery rundown protection and 6 speed trans. which ive heard are pretty tight.

Just my shiny new two cents worth..being frag bait and all.

Dyna, Jetta is a 20 something SWF car. The Passat is ok, but I know guys who do extended warranty contracts and VW ain't one of the manufacturers they recommend for buying used.

You'll have to have the entire car reviewed in the US. Asbestos breaks, catalytic convertor, everything. By the time your done, it may not be such a good deal anymore.

Dyna, I have the Nav with integrated voice activation in my RL. It works great. Here is a link for you to check out for TSX drivers.

This guy does the best car videos for Acura. I've talked to him on another board and he is a great guy.
