battery chargers
!*@##*!!!! So I buy a battery charger to charge my boat battery. Deep cycle marine battery, with the peephole to check its condition . I thought it would be simple. I hook it up and along with the usual selctions, amps/volts/fast/slow etc. is Battery Type. My choice is WET, GEL or AGM. ?????? I look in the manual and under the selector is says....
WET indicator comes on when WET is selected
GEL indicator comes on when GEL is selected
AGM indicator comes on when AGM is selected
what an engineering marvel that is. what dumba$$e$ write these things anyway.
Back on track however, can anyone tell me what type of battery I have.
I was assuming WET or GEL. The book says GEL is the default.

If you battery is a "sealed" battery, it could be any of the three types.
If it is a battery with caps where you add fluid, it is a wet cell, like the Delco batteries I remember with that green indicator eye in one of the caps.
If it's sealed, you gonna need to look at the battery and get model number to really know.

What brand and model (or model number) is the battery? I would think a quick Google would get you a spec sheet for it reasonably easily.
