I'm surprised Chem has yet to post his wisdom here. On topic, though, I think it's funny that Vista can support 128+ gb of RAM. That's gotta be a hella fast computer

I have high school to attend from 8am to 3pm Capt.
Erad nailed it, that's about as clear as you can get.
"Cores" are the way of the future, the idea is to increase parallism and stop focusing on one all powerful core. Intel has said to be working on a 32-core chip for 2010, and Sun already has such chips with many many cores on them.

Ok so the really answer to my question is this....
Mac: How long have you had these Processors?
Intel: About three or four seasons.
Intel: They're for sale if you want them.
Mac: Let me see your Processor SMP identification.
Intel becomes very nervous as they fumble to find the SMP ID
Intel: You don't need to see our SMP Identification.
Mac: We don't need to see their SMP Identification.
Intel: These are not the Processors your looking for.
Mac: These are not the Processors I'm looking for.
Intel: He can go about his business.
Mac: You can go about your business.
Intel: Move along.
Mac: Move along. Move along.
HEHEHEH...

The Cell is the PS3 has 8 cores depending on what you consider a core. The Cell is really not the wonder chip Sony and IBM wants everyone to believe. Its horrible at certain applications and really fast at others, it's certainly not set to take over Intel and AMD market yet.
Also, the Cell shows how hard developing for so many cores is when your code is not parallel at all. That's why launch PS3 titles perform terrible compared to the same game on Xbox 360 when PS3 developers have had dev kits longer than Xbox 360 ones!
