Somebody needs to watch more trailers.
QW:ET has alot more to it than what it looks to be. Yet the fact it does has some BF2 themes such as ranks, guns, and what not, the gameplay is completely different. The game mode that is being played here is something like Assault in UT. You must take over one point in order to advance in the next part. I was watching a trailer of a map being played, Humans were attacking the Strogg's air defense weapons while the strogg were defending, then vice versa. The good part about this game is the objectives are NOT the same thing. Just because one race is trying to deactivate/destroy one of the other races, doesnt mean the next game that same race is going to have to do the same exact thing. And another thing, The classes in this game are extremely more vital than the ones in BF2, basicly everyone runs are in BF2 nowa days. I did some researching and this is what I came up with/...
Enemy Territory: Quake Wars pits the armies of Earth against the invading alien Strogg in an online strategic shooter. Players choose to battle as one of five unique classes in either the EDF (Earth Defense Force -- humans) or the barbaric alien Strogg armies. Troops use 40+ conventional and futuristic vehicles, deployable structures, and defense systems like quad-bikes, tanks, and alien walkers for epic ground assaults; or helicopters and anti-gravity ships to lend firepower from the air. Throughout each battle, teams establish bases, deploy defense structures, artillery, radar, and advanced forward-command systems into enemy territory while constructing and demolishing obstacles to speed progress and gain a tactical advantage over the enemy.
Now you may want to argue, well with all this futurisitc stuff, this looks like a rip off or BF2142? Wrong, sure you got walkers and futurisitc stuff like that in BF2142, but these aircrafts are actually used for a different purpose instead of attacking. Some of the vehicles in this game are used as objectives in order to get supplies or soldiers onto different parts of the maps. Also with the different classes theres alot more you can do which each classes being extremely vital to the battlefield in its own way while in BF2, only a very small percentage. I say give your moneys worth a shot and give this game a try before you try calling it a "rip off of BF2".
