I just tried it with Chem. He liked the IM part but not the Voicechat... I didn't like either. the IM was really plain and looked like MSN and the voice thing impressed me as far as how fast he heard me and responded, but the quality kept going in and out. I'll probably keep using AIM and TS/Vent

I think voice chatting via the computer is pretty lame unless your gaming like with roger wilco or can see video of the other person...... Otherwise, I can just use my cellphone and call for free anywhere in the us anyway

AIM is very different from AOL the program. It's just an instant message program, not all that other crap that bogs down your machine.

they are all crap (imho, of course)
the only good IM program i have ever used is miranda
trillian isn't bad though

Trillian is the l33t.

You can connect to google via Trillian Pro.

Google Talk is just a Jabber client, so any Jabber compatible client will work.

I was doing voicechat with a buddy of mine that lives 1.5hrs away. It was great, so clear. Clearer than when I call my friends that have VoIP phone service. GooGle talk doesn't look like msn, IMO. It's simple, clean, and light - just like a google products.

Haven't done the voice, but I do love my trillian, I didn't care for any of the other IM programs, Trillian makes a nice simple clean interface.
