Man..i hope we don't have anymore war for oil

plans coming up anytime soon lol . This morning i filled up and it was $2.69 a gallon. I just passed the same gas station and it said $3.05 a gallon. In less than 3 hours.

Now i know i'm not the smartest cat in the world but isn't that fuel that is in the tank at the gas station already paid for...like who knows a month - 3 months ago when it was purchased? Why is it that the fuel in the ground at the station is being jacked up? Perhaps someone with industry knowledge can educate me on this...because it's starting to piss me off these daily increases.

****, i didnt fill up in time, lol. i figured i'd have until the weekend to fill up before the spike came from all the plants being shut down in louisiana. though you live in the city, it might not have hit out here yet...hopefully.

i assume they had to raise it in order to buy the next shipment. and being in the city they may get shipments frequently so it could have filled up in that 3 hours, who knows. the kroger back home you could sit at the ice cream shop and watch them change it as the day went, lol.

See that's bullsh** they shouldn't be allowed to increase the price of what they already bought to accomadate future purchases due to market fluxuations. i don't mind paying whatever the price is but quit jacking it up every other hour when that batch is already paid for at the previous month price. No wonder exxon made a kazillion last year lol.

Yea its been over 3 bucks here for quite sometime.... filling up my car that requires 91 and gets < 14 MPG sucks.

As far as gas prices, they change current prices to account for *what* may happen to oil prices in the future. 6 months ago I knew a lot more about it as we were studying it in one of my classes, but I forgot. It comes down to there is a possible shift in oil prices or they foresee a rise in costs so they hike the current supply up.

...and analysts are predicting $4.50/gal next summer... the same analysts that predicted $3/gal this year.

Well, there goes all my traveling plans to offroad parks / trails / dunes next summer I get 7-8 mpg towing the jeep on the trailer at 70 mph. I bet this will affect the {OF} Lan Party attendance too

I don't blame the station owners, they are the little guys in this. The petroleum companies made record profits the past few years and the arab states boosted the cost per barrel the minute Katrina hit us. I also know that the state of Michigan gets more tax dollars as the cost of fuel increases, they have no incentive to help us fight to keep cost down, unless it is an election year.

Citgo station next to where I work (West Michigan) just went to $3.20 a gallon.

I can remember when I paid 24.9 cents a gallon for gas when I was 16.

We need to be drilling our own oil in Anwar and for natural gas off the florida coast. Plus..I have read that we could really drop the prices if we would just build more refineries. Modern refineries can refine oil that was previously too expensive to refine..but we've not built a new refinery in like 20+ years due to all the tree huggers.

ON a lighter note (not really)... both major pipelines bringing gas to the Atlanta area are knocked out. The major supplier to Atlanta says we have about an 8 day supply left in his holding tanks east of Atlanta. Sheesh.. I am leaving for lunch and to fill up.. It was already up a dime or so this morning when I took my daughter to school but I didn't have my wallet with me so I couldn't buy any!

Well Varmit, tapping our own reservse will help a little, but we use more than we have, so we are handcuffed by the foriegn oil producers because we need the oil to supply the demand. What we need is the oil companies to cut some of thier PROFITS! and give the consumers a break. Wouldn't hurt if the Gov. would require auto makers to increase MPG now rather than over the next 5-10 years. But for the time being we are going to have to suck it up.
