The companies you most likely buy from and support..
are the same ones who care about tsunami victims but not their fellow americans. Just thought i'd pass this along pisses me off a bit...the usual charities are all there and doing what they can but amazon in particular really sucks arse...

Quote:
But mainstream Web sites that had jumped to pull in money for the tsunami victims showed no evidence of repeating it here in the U.S. for Katrina's. Amazon.com, which raised more than $14 million for the American Red Cross in January via a donation link on its home page, didn't have one as of mid-day Monday. Nor did Google, Yahoo, MSN, or eBay, all of which hustled earlier in the year to put up donation links on their portals. (Google slapped up an "Information about Hurricane Katrina" link on its Spartan home page, but that led to news sources and stories.)
An Amazon spokesperson said that the online retailer had no plans to post a donation link on its site. "Each case is different," she said. "The Red Cross has essentially given over its entire site to donations. The tsunami came out of the blue, so it was an 'all hands on deck' situation, but the Red Cross has been getting ready for this and getting its message out there for several days."

They have put a little baby box on the upper right hand corner of their webpage for the red cross. Apparently an e-mail barage changed their minds, but obviously just a little. To late for me though the damage is done.
There message has now been out there for several days. My case is a little different to, and that will be no more buying from amazon. That's just me though...

The people around here are banding together in support. A local TV station collected over $40,000 at 1 location outside a Bakers food store in just 2 days. The Bakers/Krogers food stores are doing the same thing they did during the Tsunami by rounding up purchases and doing some donation matching to the Red Cross. I am sure a lot of communities are doing the same thing. I would still like to see the major companies throwing in large donations as well. We need to help our own this time around. I dont buy from Amazon anyway so ignoring them will be easy for me

mesk, that is very harsh. Most of the members of this board live in the US, does that mean you hate all of us because we are Americans?

I had this big long rant I was going to post, but decided it was probably the wrong thing to post.
Anyway, I agree DT, people/corporations are assholes. And if enough people got together and TRUELY stopped purchasing from the corporations it might send a message, but the corporations know that most of those people will be back after enough time has passed so they can do pretty much what they want.

Smiley, there are times that I too generalize people and become disgusted, some days I marvel at how the human race got to where it is!
I am sure that Mesk doesn't point that towards the good people of FoS or their famalies.
