Truely a tough situation, but they will get through it with time and support. Help is pouring into the area and I'm sure things are getting better as we speak.

I know things will eventually get better, but if you've seen some of those videos... it's getting better for a lot of people (like the ones going to the Astrodome) but for some it's getting much worse. People are dying on those highways and in the Superdome and of course there's still people alive that are trapped who will most likely die. It's just sad to know all the help that's being sent still isn't enough to save everybody, and there's nothing that can be done about it. There's more and more looters and I read that many of them are armed and someone even shot at a rescue helicopter. Oh and I saw a video last night where the cops were doing some of the looting. Wtf? The police were told to stop the search and rescue and focus on the looters, but some of them are the ones doing the looting... how horrible

I've heard they may want cops to loot the weapons/ammo stores to try and keep it out of the bad guys hands. I would not be surprised to see cops looting for food to keep going, gotta survive when no help is there to feed ya, they may be cops but they also need food. I would certainly hope they are not the ones looting TV's and DVD players! That would be sick, but to get what you need to survive, I say go for it!!

Metal - these cops were browsing for shoes. I don't think I saw groceries in the carts they were pushing around. I might be wrong though...

I see no problem people getting food and water, but anything else makesme sickand to think some of those lootersare the ones complaining about no help coming

The ones shooting at the rescue folks should get the same back and probably will in the future. There was also a National Gaurd soldier shot in the leg at the dome, while monitoring the loading of buses and they got the guy that did it. Makes me sick to see someone trying to impede the help that they are getting.

Laura, about the shoes, from what I have read, watched, heard, they were making sure people were only taking shoes that could fit them, maybe they needed a new pair too

Now I may not have seen the same coverage you have, just saying what I have read about what cops were doing at a shoe store, trying to limit people to their own size....
Tough situation, it is becoming every person for themselves to survive down there, and of course you do have the idiots who make things worse!! I cant believe the stories from the hospital, thugs overturning a boat with a doctor and patients on board with some medication. Just sick!!!
I am really shocked the forces cant get down their to help! You can drop airborne troops behind enemy lines in the middle of the dark, assassinate some high level dude, and nobody knows who did it, but you cant drop some troops into New Orleans to help out.

That Navy hospital ship will not get to the Gulf for two weeks!!
They have been extremely slow to get those poor people some help!

CNN must be loving this TV coverage right at home though. I know I am glued to the TV and web sites all day!
