Call of Duty 2
Anybody else playing this?
I finally opened up the box and loaded it yesterday and being a huge CoD & UO fan I have to say that it is cool to be playing this again.
I've only made it through about 2/3 of the SP and haven't tried MP yet but it feels the same as the original with more effects and much better graphics.
It's a rush seeing massive enemy units pouring over the horizon and trying to slow them down with a bolt-action rifle.
I would say the graphics are comparable to BF2. I've also read that for some reason running it on DX7 gives much better results than DX9 both in FPS and graphic wise but I haven't tested it yet.
I'm sure I'll be spending my gaming time playing this for the next six months if not more. After that there should be an expansion with vehicles much like UO did for CoD.

Its a very fun game. The whole series is great (the PC versions).
I'd say the graphics are far better than BF2, this is mainly because of textures, and the effects are pretty damn good in CoD2. You'll really want a 256MB graphics card for this game, any lower and even if you set the texture to max it'll only be at medium due to a lack of available memory. This game also takes advantage of video cards that have 512MB of memory.

Started mulyplayer last night. Holy crap!! Great firefights, small maps and lots of action. I suck, one map I finished with 8 kills and like 30 deaths. lol
The MP maps seem familiar, some more than others, but most are only partially the same as the first game.

I bought it but it won't run on my computer at a decent resolution (128 Mb 9800 Pro) so I'm saving it for my upgraded box.

Call of Duty 2 is VERY hard on the system. BF2 doesnt compare really.
The smoke in COD2 is very realistic, best in any game. I have to run the game at 1024x768, 2xAA, 16xAF, and everything maxed except speculator textures (I think that's the name) which is at medium. I still get choppy FPS sometimes during heavy combat. This is with a OC'd A64 and a 6800GS.
Also, the graphical performance of CoD2 is very dependent on your graphics cards memory. If you have only 128MB you're pretty much screwed, you need 256MB really to enjoy anything decent looking in the game.
