The Congressional Medal of Honor is awarded for displays of uncommon valor while facing unsurmountable odds.
Lets take a look at his fight:
He was in hostile territory, facing a larger heavily armed force. Outnumbered, injured, and his ability to defend himself was severely compromised. He continued to fight and defend his fellow Marines with complete disregard for his own life and safety. As a result of his actions, the enemy was eliminated at that position and his fellow marines survived. It sounds like he meets every requirement to be nominated for the CMOH.
