Stargate fans? MMO?

hmm, ive known about this for months now, its still in early development stages, i guess it turned lots of heads at E3 this year.

Quote:
"It's no wonder that Ten Ton Hammer awarded the upcoming MMORPG Stargate Worlds the Most Anticipated MMO of this year's E3 convention. E3 shows off what's new and cutting edge for the video game industry, in front of those who know the very best in games. Developer Cheyenne Mountain Entertainment is currently two years away from delivering the new game to stores. But the buzz in the industry is loud and frenzied."
http://www.gateworld.net/news/2006/0...orpgwins.shtml
Quote:
Most importantly, the game will be intensely story driven. Players will make choices to form alliances, groups, make assumptions, and even go up against superior enemies. Stargates will still be the main source of transportation, with some ship travel where there are no gates. Continuity between the game and the show is top priority.

The premise and backstory of the game will encompass all the elements so loved by fans. The characters, planets, and races should all be the same, with a few new additions. Players might get to meet the Furlings, among others. The humor brought in by Richard Dean Anderson (Jack O'Neill) and the writers will be continued, keeping the feel of the show for the fans. Currently negotiations continue for the actors to do the voices of their characters.

But there will be differences between the game and the hit television series -- mainly in the combat systems. "Ranged combat maneuver is crucial [in Stargate Worlds]," Klug said. "Old MMO archetypes -- tank, healer, mage -- won't work." However, Klug says, "Combat is an important gameplay element, but we will also have a strong non-combat option for scientists and archeologists." So it's not about just fighting off one enemy at a time. Players have to think.

I agree, they will make it great or a disaster, I can't wait to see how it turns out. I am a huge addict of sci-fi fridays - too bad bsg isn't follwing it this time.

I would always turn off the tv when battlestar came on, cause i knew i would prolly like it, and it would be another series i would have to go out and buy.... as it is right now, i have all 8 season that are on dvd for SG-1, and the first season of atlantis...... thats alotsa money lol, dont wanna spend more on another series .... and i could download them with newsgroups.... but if i like the series, i will always buy it after ....

4 season of 24 on dvd
8 seasons of stargate sg-1
1 season of stargate atlantis
1 season of The Dead Zone
4 seasons of Smallville

prolly going to get monk, the rest of the dead zone ... even tho some of the seasons are only like 12 episodes, and they are just starting up the new season already... so they are finally finishing this up

I watch Stargate any chance i get so I can't wait to see how the MMO turns out. I hope it doesn't die like all the other attempts to make a stargate game.

So far I only have up to season 5 of the dvd's, it certainly gets a little expensive. One day I'll go out and pick up the rest and then start on collecting bsg , The first episode got me hooked.

We have season 1-8 at home. We love it.

I do agree with you Erad. She was awesome.

But at least Richard Dean Anderson will be back this season for 5 episodes. 2 for SG1 and 3 for Atlantis.

I miss that man. The sarcasm just isn't what it used to be.

Never been much a BSG fan. But I haven't watched much of it.

lol, i went through and watched alot of episodes ... the episode when amanda tapping is implanted with the tok'ra, she is in the cell at the SGC, and Teal'c swipes his card in the door when leaving .... except he swipes it with the magnetic strip in his hand, and the door still opens :P.... i dont usually see that stuff lol

yeah, i cant wait for the 200th episode, its following on the martain storyline with wormhole extreme .... lol, should be awesome, richard dean anderson is back for that one too.

i also agree, Doc Frasier is missed, you dont see the connection untill its already gone, now landry's daughter is the med officer? hmm ... shes hot, but i dont see much chemistry between anyone except gen. landry yet.
