heh - do two wrongs make a right? Was she unethical to have paid for a search of non-HP phone records of board members private phones? I can't see how showing a lack of respect to every board member to catch one of them would help you in the long term. She showed that she will not let ethics nor ostrisizing everyone stop her from getting her way.
Monitoring HP logs and records is one thing, but private phone records is going too far. This is not like a national security issue was involved.
Enron was just one example of the head of a company not respecting others and then enriching himself at the company's (and ultimately killing the company) expense. I now have lots of auditing forms and records to fill out because of the Sarbanes-Oxley act to keep a company's employees from theft or other unethical practices.
