Your Young life...
While I'm not one to get all weird with the "back when I was your age..." I decided after all these years to go up in my old room and clean out my closet. It pretty much went untouched for almost 12 years. I figured it was time to clean out the unwanted stuff that I collected over the years. I had previously done this a while ago but, wanted to see what else I could find. I remember my childhood well. I had a pretty good childhood, Being the only child I was spoiled but, I was also independent. I wasn't a whiner or anything like that. Anyhow, The biggest things I remember that made a difference when growing up was the vast amounts of Lego I had, nothing new though, I'm still a Lego Junkie. I came across one of my old Kiddie Books I had as a child, it was one of my favorites. I just went through it now. I think without a doubt this was a big influence in my life. It taught me more then just reading, it was a simple book that showed what people did. The Book is called, "What Do People Do All Day." by Richard Scarry. After going through this book at my age now and look at all the Absolute Crap kids have today. Its a shame, something so simple yet productive.
Anyhow, Thanks for letting me share my little Closet Adventure. The Reason I posted this was I know a few of you are around my age, some a little order, some younger. Do you recall any of the Richard Scarry Books from your Childhood if you had them? I know there was others but, this one way my favorite.
Ok, enough.. I just weirded myself out with this post.. Need to go outside and get some air. Been inside to long.

I never had a book read to me nor did I ever have to truly read a book until Smiley came into my life so I have no childhood books that were favorites. I had to deal with my step father watching porn on the tv and him making us go to our rooms so he could do so. So I dont have any real memories until about oh 11 years of age I think. But I do go through some of my paperwork and stuff that I have from living with smiley . Oh and thanks for sharing.

Well, my childhood books were 2 pages, since they were made in stone and G_Man's were just paintings on cave walls
Good story anyway Mac. I've done that myself before.

Hmmm, that was a long time ago. We move around a lot so I never was able to keep a lot of stuff and it always got purged for the next move. I do remember seeing a lot of cool places and doing a lot of cool stuff. My dad was a geologist and would spend the summers out in the woods looking for minerals to mine and when I was old enough I would go along. Spent many summers out in the middle of nowhere camping and fishing and just hanging out with my pop. No electricity no running water, except the stream Kids now would freek out not having any electronics for 2 months. As far as what books I had growing up, not many, I had Northern Canada wilderness as my book Baffin Island is a cool place as I recall

I remember crawling into bed with Mom as a wee kid, and laughing at the silly novels she always read--she favored Stephen King-like horror.
Course, now I read 'em all, started when I was 12.

Well My parents never read to me and my dads thought of a good time was making us kids work in the yard all day I dont remember even reading a book in school I never did and I hate to read to my kids even though I know it is good for them Ben does the reading I try. I just never got into books although I luv to go through family pictures and of course there are very few of me since my dad said I wasnt suppose to be born their is my trip down memory lane and I can blame not remembering on getting hit in the head with a brick when I was 10 after 36 stitches I choose not to remember. Happy days people they are what you make um!!!
