I'm a full time student at Ga Tech studying Computational Media (think cross between CS and Art/design...90% of what the CS degree has with a specialty in using computers to further a message via digital medium...err...Think Interactive Media). Over the summer I'm working full time at a small company (60) where we specialize in creating interactive websites (usually flash, we did this site: www.cokemusic.com )...I'm classified as a java programmer though as the newbie I wear many hats.
Some people are like Slinkies....
Not really good for anything,
but they still bring a smile to your face.........
when you push them down a flight of stairs.....
LoPo - at 25 you are not old enough to have had all those jobs fulltime! HTF did you get a Director level position at 25?
I'm a Systems Engineer for a manufacturing company, with about 325 employees, that is part of a Fortune 100 corporation. I handle 17 servers, entire network infrastructure, remote access, WAN, phone system, 200 workstations / laptops, Windows Domain adminstration and policies, etc. I do not have to deal with budgets or programming. I started here 24 years ago working in the cast iron foundry as a grunt. Now I've got 'em thinking I know what I'm doing so I've been in IT here for 10 years this fall . . .
I'm a programmer at a small company that produces documents based on variable data -mostly billing statements, newsletters, etc. November and December is our busy season which usually means don't expect to work less than 12 hrs a day and forget about taking time off except for Christmas Day, Thanksgiving day and sundays. Its rough but the pay is worth it.
And the best part is were located in the town Andy Griffith based the Andy Griffith Show on (some of you may know it as Mayberry) and believe me nothing has changed. I met Andy Griffiths nephew who is the sherriff and i think i bought Barney's house.
I have been a member of the United States Air Force for 22 years. I started out as a Military Working Dog Handler and a Law Enforcement Specialist. I did that for 10 years and love working with and training dogs. I was on the SWAT team as an entry specialist and a sniper. I still have a bad habbit of sneaking up behind people and scaring the out of them Yes I have been in combat. Real bullets flying around is not a fun place to be. I like the video combat much better "click respawn " I retrained into the Medical Lab Field and am now teaching medical laboratory technical school. In June I retire from the Air Force and go to work for a company installing Laboratory information systems as a System Engineer.
I have enjoyed my military service and would not give it up for anything. I have met a lot of great people in the service and because of the service. I am an {OF} cause of the service Thanks BB. The best part of being in the military is watching a country rediscover it's patriotism. I remember the first time I traveled in uniform back in 1983 and people would stare at you call you a war monger and as time went by and more so after 911 people now come up to you and shake your hand and thank you for your service. The best thing I ever saw was in Minneapolis airport...A bunch of Marines were coming off of a plane in thier Desert BDU's comming back from the first Gulf war and the entire terminal stood lining the hall applauding as they went by. Still brings a teaar to the eye. I am proud to have served and it is because this world has so many great people in it like all of you
