Who Got Their Wii?

Who was lucky enough to get their Wii today?? I went to six retailers and they either all had super long lines or they were sold out. Ended up getting a bundle online so I won't see mine for a few days yet.

SO if you have one, how's the experience? What games have you played?

I am waiting for maxel to come out with their 300gb optical discs (which private entities are already testing) and see which game console at that time will get that drive. Then ill decide on getting another game console

You mean never Blong? This is possibly the last generation of consoles to rely on optical media. Next generation consoles are very likely to use the broadband networks to distrubute games with optical media costing more. We'll see though.

They sold out of Wii's very quickly here. I'll talk to some people at school Monday to see what they think, I'm sure one or two of them must have gotten one. As for that, so far Zelda is apparently the best one ever made (70 hours + of gameplay) and the Wii version decently superior to the Gamecube version. From what I've also read that the Wiimote is very nice and works as advertised. Overall a great launch for Nintendo with the only sore spot being that the New and Weather channels of Wii24Connect (the online service for Wii) not being ready till December.

uhh what do you mean by never? Obviously you havent read up on the new optical disks. 20megabytes/sec speeds and they are looking at going upwards of 120megabytes/second. yes thats megabytes. Now that doesnt mean you are wrong chemical because I honestly didnt know about broadband networks to distribute games.

Honestly out of all the consoles out the wii would be the only one I would get due to the lean towards childrens games.

No current console is going to change the optical system it uses. And the next next generation of consoles will likely look to other methods besides optical media for distrubuting games.

BTW, the Wii officialy sold out today with 500,000 units, you can check out my thoughts about the PS3 and Wii launches and a brief comparison.

Must say its a very impressive showing by Nintendo.

And Blong, I'm with you. If we're getting the Wii it would be because it's kid friendly. We actually have a super NES, Nintendo 64 and Gamecube all hooked up together to the kids tv in the basement and they keep using it.
