8pm EST should be 9pm EDT or 6pm PDT but considering the way people tend to screw up posting time zones it probably would be a good idea to get there at 8pm EDT just to be sure.

I was rather disappointed that I was the only one from either DvT or OF to show up -- unless I missed seeing someone who was there but not wearing their tag.

That depends upon what you call 'interesting.' The meat of the discussion involved the features of the game itself. It will be different from 2K4, which is good. It wouldn't be a "new game" otherwise. However, while the Big Head mutator should still be there, the Big Groin mutator did not make it in.

Since I was anticipating the above and we have had info in this regard trickling out, I didn't find it to be incredibly "interesting." The things I wanted to know were evaded/avoided: 1. release date (when it's done), 2. demo release date (a couple of weeks before release), 3. minimum system requirements (you will be surprised at how well it runs on your older systems; vid card should be <2 years old), 4. recommended system requirements (dual core; quad core won't add much more; you can't have enough RAM; your vid card is never good enough), 5. DRM [will it have SecuROM, like Bioshock?] (we don't discuss security measures), 6. will the Demo be released early enough before it goes Gold to allow feedback from the Demo to be incorporated into the final release? (we are always interested in comments from the community).

I was pleased to find out that the "pro" element of our community will be disappointed: the UTcomp-type "enhancements" will not be present. IOW, the game will geared for us amateurs who need nerfed gameplay such as that used in MLB or the NFL, rather than for the pros who want to be able to show off their l33t T-Ball or flag-football type skillz.

BTW, at any one time there were about 500 people in the IRC channel (the discussion was moderated, not ffa). So, there probably were 700-800, total, who showed up (my guess).
