I don't think any game will ever again be able to blow me away the way Unreal did back on Christmas Day, 1999.

Haven't tried Internet play yet as my DSL is acting up, and they are moving me over to FIOS 7mbs service on the 27th. On the old DSL I can't find a server under 140 ping.

Are those specs & FPS based on the same hardware Erad(dual boot) ? Your Q6600? Still debating on upgrading the PC, though I got Vista Businutz running on the AMD64 X2, it's going to be a hand me down to the Misses.

Yupo LoPo, Dual Boot on the Q6600 with 2GB DDR2, an 8800 GTS 320MB, with a 24" Samsung TFT. It has Windows XP Pro 32 on one drive, and Vista Enterprise 32 on the other drive.

In Vista Home Premium x64, with Q6600 (no O/C at all), 2x 8800GTX SLI, 4GB RAM, Samsung 22", I'm getting 100+ fps...in some places 200+.

hahah, wow, for those of us who aren't spending $800+ on our GPU's alone Erad's are more realistic, though anything over 30 is supposed to be non-distinguishable to the human eye, however I think 50-60fps is a better benchmark for that. Nice setup nonetheless.

ok, i got it. now lets play before Excessive JB comes out :P
hmm, seems like just another UT (personal opinion, not a UT fan to speak of).
graphics, disappointed. reminds me of when Q4 came out with the Doom engine. I prefer crisp bright games (like UT2k4 & q3).
also doesn't run for $*** on my pc. down to 800x600 just to move definately not getting Crysis yet.

$1300 alone on the GPUs.
Anything over 30fps is non-distinguishable to the human eye ... if you are only watching it passively, like a movie or TV. The technical consensus when playing interactively, on-line, using a computer monitor, you want a minimum of 60fps. I don't recall all the details, but in coming to this conclusion they factor many of the miriad of variables including the fact that a monitor scans the frame onto screen one pixel at a time whereas a movie projector displays the entire frame every time the projector shutter opens.
Less than 60fps doesn't make things unplayable; 60+ is just what is considered desirable for optimal play.
The more I play UT3, the more impressed I am with the graphics. Another of the big points with me is the lighting. Every version of Unreal/UT to this point has had, IMHO, an overabundance of red and blue lighting and textures, which has made distinguishing teammates from opponents difficult at times, impossible at others. This is especially an issue when playing TDM on our servers due to the fact that I firmly believe that TDM should be played with FF @ 100%...and our servers, admin'd by me, reflect this philosophy. The UT3 lighting and textures are much more natural and, thus far, this problem has been essentially a non-issue for me.

its not the actual brightness, its the overall texture scheme. I guess i cant really explain it. like i said comparing Q3 to Q4
