New AA Mode for Geforce 6 Series!
Nvidia today released the 91.45 drivers, these are just for the 7950GX2 though to offer Quad SLI, but some smart thinkers wanted to find out what these drivers would do for other Geforce cards. And oh boy did they discover something nice!
Head over to Guru3D to grab the hacked version of the 91.45 that work with the Geforce 6 series and above.
The big news is that these drivers give Geforce 6 users transparency AA. Trans AA smooths out transparent textures, this is a HUGE improvment in image quality, pervious you could only get this on the Geforce 7 series for Nvidia card, but its not here for us with Geforce 6s!
Here's the Guru3D link: http://downloads.guru3d.com/download.php?det=1468

ATi has their form of this too, Adaptive AA, which is possible on their X series and X1 series of cards too.
They had it a bit before on their older generations, but Nvidia was the first on the newer generation. So its a trade off.
Its just simply a really nice thing for us on older generations to get, its like Hey! They still care about us! Which is not something I often get from Nvidia.

It works fine on all Geforce 6 series cards.
In order to enable it you must set the settings menu (where you change AA, AF, etc) to the advanced mode, scroll down the least a bit and select Transparency AA.
You have three options: Off, Multisampling, Supersampling.
Multi does next to nothing, little to no performance difference and doesnt help much if at all in image quality.
Supersampling though is a huge difference. It will hit the performance, but not that bad and IMO really worth the huge increase in image quality.
Transparency AA allows AA to be used on alpha textures. Alpha textures are those textures often used to make trees, bushes, and for example in HL2 to make chain link fences. TR AA really helps smooth those out and can have a very dramtic effect.
