ugh
Ok I got my x1950pro-512 agp installed. general windows apps work fine.
start a game or open cat ctrl center and screen goes garbled, then black, then i see the signal lost light on the monitor. so then i reboot and it comes back.
I have a crt monitor, the card has only 2 dvi connectors so i used the adapters. it also has 2 power connectors. it certainly doesnt require 2 power connects would it? it is running on one now.
i have the latest (7.1?) drivers. wonder if that is the problem?

Maybe it does need both power connectors. Check the manual like blong said

There is a reason it has two power connectors. Connect both.
Also, you did remove your previous drivers? Even if it was a ATi card that would still likely cause a number of issues.

Just plugged it into the wall MT, and one will be enough.

Manual's tend to be useless. I'm actually surprised the card even booted up for you with only one connected. I did not test it on my X1950 Pro (PCIe, only one connector), but one time I forgot on my 6800GS and that thing made the most annoying beep...
Anyway, hopefully connecting the other connector will work for you. This really is not surprising considering the card was designed for PCIe and also a 6-pin video connector, I assume that AGP version has two 4-pin molex connectors.

all it need was MORE POWER!!!!!!!!!!!!
on average I would say it's about 15-20fps faster than the 850xt.
I was at 1280 with 4aa x 8af in BF2 at about 70fps with the 850, now it's solid 90's
*update, just changed all to 6aa x 16af no problems at all. everything is good...yeehah!!!!!!!!!!!!! BF2142 runing 60+

Make sure you enabled the High Quality AF inside the control panel. This will increase the quality on angles a lot. A X850XT doesnt perform the same level of AF on angles as it does on straights, a X1950 Pro though with HQAF does however.
